Centre Holistique Gawou Ginou

On the 21st anniversary of the Association Culturelle Gawou Ginou we broke ground on the Holistic Center. The Holistic Center will bring full circle the integrated practice of all the arts as a healing process. The choice of the number 21 symbolizes our respect for the 21 “Nanchon” or major African ethnic groups that form the Haitian society, as they are venerated in Haitian rituals. The Center will be built on a seven acre space where music, dance, theatre, painting, literature, sculpture, will be practiced in “artistic rotation” as envisioned by the famous artist Jean Claude Garoute aka TIGA. We have come to realize the importance of this center - a place of realization, of healing, of meditation, a point of meeting of different perspectives and people, and of a coming together of dance, music, and culture. We envision the Holistic Center as a place to ground the people.
